Bromelain Enzyme Powder

Bromelain is an enzyme found in pineapple stems and pineapple juice. Bromelain is a proteolytic enzyme like papain with significance in medical ailments. It is extracted from the pineapple juice from its fruits, leaves, and stems. The main industries where bromelain enzyme is used are – pharmaceutical, tenderization, food, detergent, cosmetics, and textile. In cosmetics, bromelain is used for removing dead cells from the skin. It is also a major ingredient in tooth-whitening dentifrices.

Prime industrial use:

  • Widely used in the food & beverage industry as a tenderizer, especially in meat processing.
  • Used as additives in nutraceutical products.
  • Used as a feed additive enzyme for animals.
  • In the cosmetics industry, bromelain enzyme is used to make products for acne removal, wrinkling, and skin care treatment.

Benefits of Bromelain Enzyme Powder in Skincare:

Accelerate skin cell turnover

Bromelain also has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial benefits

Aids in skin rejuvenation (through the process of exfoliating skin cells): Like exfoliating acids (think glycolic and salicylic acids) bromelain breaks down the proteins that hold your skin cells together. Once this glue loosens up, dead cells “fall off” your skin.

The difference? Glycolic acid and co are very pH dependent. If the pH is too high or too long, they won’t work. Bromelain isn’t as fussy.

It also doesn’t penetrate as deeply into the skin, so it’s less likely to irritate it. Mind you, if you have sensitive skin, it may still irritate it – with your skin type, you never know what may trigger the alarm.
